Laymoon Cafe ⏾ Middle Eastern Coffee, Food, and Events ⏾ Tempe, Arizona
Laymoon is a Palestinian- and Syrian-owned café sitting right across from ASU, and it’s designed to be a gathering place first, a coffee shop second. This project is different from the others, and it shows in the details. The build totals roughly 2,465 square feet across retail, café counter, kitchen, dining, and a separate lounge. It’s a bigger footprint than a typical coffee shop, built to support both quick counter service and long, lingering visits.
The creative lead, House of Form, designed arabesque arches, textured stone, and layered materials, including a custom banquette built into the dining area, giving the space real warmth. The dining area alone runs close to 1,000 square feet, big enough to hold the separate 393-square-foot lounge that gives the café its late-night, hangout feel.
The café opened in January 2026 and has become exactly what it set out to be – a spot where ASU students, Tempe locals, and the local Muslim community gather, especially during Ramadan when Laymoon stays open 24 hours a day to support those observing the holy month. The menu is built around Middle Eastern flavors, from cardamom rose lattes to baklava by the slice, designed to support the volume this place sees daily. A coffee shop rarely becomes a genuine third place this fast, but Laymoon has, drawing daily crowds built on great hospitality as much as great espresso.
