Hooligan’s Coffeehouse is a tenant improvement in Building D of the Cannon Beach development in Mesa, right near the corner of Power and Warner — steps from Revel Surf’s outdoor surf park. The owners, three childhood friends who grew up skating and building bonfires together in Gilbert, wanted a coffee shop that felt like an extension of that same laid-back, community-first energy.
The build is compact — entry, coffee bar, and seating area all working together in a tight footprint — so we focused on making the space feel open rather than cramped. The layout puts the espresso line, grinders, and prep counter right behind the bar where the baristas need them, and keeps the customer side clear enough to move through easily during a rush.
None of that shows up when you walk in, but it’s why the shop runs the way it does — busy, fast-moving, and easy on the customer. Hooligan’s has leaned into that energy since opening in December 2024, building a following around events like latte art competitions and monthly car and motorcycle meetups. It’s a small space doing a lot of work, and it’s become a real neighborhood hangout.
